Language
Language includes two parts, expressive language (what we say) and receptive language (what we understand). Your child may benefit from language services if they:
Have limited vocabulary
Are unable to follow directions accurately
Have difficulty understanding or speaking about age appropriate concepts
Articulation
Articulation includes the sounds that we produce and how they go together to produce clear speech. Your child may benefit from articulation services if they:
Have difficulty producing age appropriate sounds
Are difficult to understand, even when speaking to familiar people
Show signs of frustration when they can’t convey their message
AAC
Augmentative and Alternative Communication or “AAC” refers to the use of added supports for communication such as devices that generate speech, picture books, or sign language. Your child may benefit from AAC if they:
Have prolonged difficulty with speech and language development
Have a diagnosed disorder that is known to impact speech and language development
Have normal understanding of language but are unable to produce verbal speech
